5. Climb Mount Nebo
Mount Nebo, one of Jordan’s many significant landmarks, lies along the Abarim mountain range. This mountain is mentioned in the Bible as the location where Moses viewed the promised land before dying at the age of 120.
According to the Book of Deuteronomy, Moses died on Mount Nebo and was buried in Moab shortly thereafter. Around the fourth century, Egyptian monks built a small monastery on the mountain in remembrance of Moses. It was later rebuilt into a basilica that still stands today.
During a visit to Mount Nebo, you can enter the basilica. And view a fascinating collection of Byzantine mosaics as well as other mosaics dating back to 530.
