Turning your passion for photography into a career is an exciting prospect for many people. How wonderful to be able to do what you love and get paid for it. This is the ideal working situation!

Becoming a professional photographer is no easy task, but the rewards are many. The ability to work for yourself and organize your own time is a big plus. Becoming a professional photographer takes hard work and commitment. Most of all you have to love taking pictures. This is what will drive you to achieve success.

Most professional photographers specialize in one area of the market, sometimes two. For instance there are those who love to take pictures of family and friends, they would be best suited to portraiture and weddings. There are those who love to take photographs of scenery and wildlife, maybe also photographs of their holidays. These people would be suited to travel and landscape photography, perhaps combining this with nature and animals.

Still life and lifestyle photography are another common combination. Do you love to take photographs of interesting objects and of beautiful interiors? If so this could be for you.

When I made a decision to turn my love of photography

When I made a decision to turn my love of Fotograf Regensburg into a career and set up my own business, I really had no idea where to start. All I knew was that I loved to take pictures, that the satisfaction that I gained from a beautiful or interesting photograph was immense. I came across many hurdles. I literally hid away in a room for several months learning to control light. I set up a home studio, I bought professional lighting equipment, and I took thousands of photographs under different light conditions to see what could be achieved. Prior to this, I had purely a good eye for a photograph. In order to sell professionally this is not enough. You must become a master of light. You must learn to paint with light.

After a couple of months I felt confident that I could control lighting conditions well enough to take good still life photographs. I enjoyed the slow and disciplined way in which still life photographs are taken. This is not for everyone however. Some love to be out and about with a camera. Whatever your preference, to sell your services professionally, you must first master light.

I then moved onto teaching myself Photoshop. This is invaluable as you can edit photographs quickly and efficiently with this tool. There are many online resources to teach you how to use this software.

The hardest part of being a professional photographer is marketing yourself. Most of us do not know where to start. I have found the best way to advertise is through a high-ranking website. You will need a good website so you can display your best work and you will also need to make sure that people find your site. This means that your site needs to rank highly with the most popular search engines. This is time consuming and can be very difficult. To save time, so you can concentrate on taking pictures, I suggest employing someone in the know to take over this part for you. Unless you are particularly good with computers.

When you have a combination of a good high raking website and great Fotograf Regensburg, you really are well on your way to having a successful and rewarding career as a professional photographer. This is the beginning of your journey at getting paid for something that you love. If you want it enough, you will get there. Good luck!
