Elon Musk is a South African-born American entrepreneur. He cofounded PayPal and later SpaceX – both electronic payment platforms – before founding Tesla Motors as well as an artificial intelligence startup called xAI. He owns all three entities as well.
His acquisition of Twitter is at the center of several ongoing societal debates, including those regarding billionaires, mis- and disinformation campaigns, and what responsibility social media companies should assume towards their users. Elon musk buys Xvideos
Twitter is a widely-used news and social networking platform, allowing its users to quickly share updates, links to articles and videos and stay abreast of current events. Twitter is predominantly used by politically active young adults who use it both for connecting with friends and staying informed on current affairs.
Musk, known for his often controversial statements and actions, began accumulating Twitter shares steadily since mid-March to establish a 5% stake. After accusing Twitter of concealing the number of bot accounts on their site – something they deny – and trying to renegotiate the $44 billion deal price, he attempted renegotiation as well.
After carefully considering his options, Musk decided to follow through with his plan and close the transaction as planned. By taking Twitter private, he gains more control of its operations without needing to release quarterly financial reports or face public scrutiny. But experts warn that taking Twitter private could cause new complications as it makes it more difficult to police hate speech and misinformation on social media; plus regulators and advertisers may now scrutinize Musk more closely due to sudden surges of toxic content on his platform.
Tesla
After an eventful year, Tesla shares have dropped nearly 20%. The company has struggled to meet production goals amid a series of crises including two key executive departures and delaying launch of their sci-fi inspired pickup truck Cybertruck.
Eberhard and Tarpenning left Tesla in 2007 but still own significant stakes in the company. Eberhard designed the electrical and power systems for Tesla’s first electric car, the Roadster; Eberhard even buried battery cells to test for thermal runaway.
Musk may have sold off some Tesla shares, but this represents less than 4% of his overall holdings and even less when counting options to purchase additional shares. He’s exercising options that expire next year too – so even after his Twitter poll he will still hold over 10 million Tesla shares! Unlike some investors he is keeping most of them and not selling them off to pay taxes.
SpaceX
Elon Musk owns six companies spanning various industries. SpaceX is his most valuable enterprise, estimated at billions. Elon also owns Tesla, The Boring Company, Neuralink and xAI.
John Oliver makes for an amusing look at tech magnate Elon Musk in this week’s Last Week Tonight, dissecting his hectic year and drawing comparisons between him and cinematic villains. Oliver adds an edge of humor which brings greater understanding to Musk’s seemingly unpredictable persona.
SpaceX’s Falcon fleet has been chosen to launch vital national security space launches over the next five years. These missions will utilize their operationally mature Falcon Heavy rocket and its payload-carrying capacity in order to bring cargo from Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars or beyond.
SpaceX recently acquired Pioneer Aerospace, which creates parachutes to enable spacecraft to safely return to Earth from outer space. This purchase will help SpaceX further develop their Starship heavy lift rocket which is destined to bring humanity back to the moon, explore Mars and eventually become multi-planetary.
PayPal
As Tesla and SpaceX shareholders remain divided, their billionaire owner has taken on another task. He recently purchased Twitter with plans to radically alter it in line with free speech principles while open sourcing its algorithms and combat spambot accounts.
Elon Musk is an eccentric businessman who seeks to court controversy. Although his companies have come under considerable fire from critics, Elon has never wavered in his commitment to succeed and always lives up to his promise of delivering on them.
He even extended a helping hand to DPReview, the site Amazon abruptly shuttered. And his latest venture: Twitter is an ambitious social media platform which could transform the Internet; here are some arguments in its favor and against.
